An abandoned woman given Hope - Sub Saharan Africa

Mama Ltalyan's husband abandoned her some years back. Without a source of income she has struggled to survive. Our GiveTech field staff heard of her plight and thankyou to Samantha from Kotara, NSW, mama Ltalyan now has hope. Samantha gifted her a goat through GiveTech.com. Now with this young female goat she will get milk for her home, to sell and she will breed her goat to multiply her business. Mama Ltalyan is so thankful for this gift. Thankyou Samantha. You have really made a huge positive change for this woman's life. She has dignity, purpose, work, provision and Hope.

Newspaper Article: GiveTech turns IT gear into goats

Newcastle Herald

IF you’re reading this in Newcastle, look up. Pretty good chance you’ll spot a smart person.
Linger on the spot and you’ll see someone dressed for the beach, a couple of thugs, the odd schemer slinking off to court. Point is, you could swing a yo-yo for a minute and take out at least three smart people.
Topics is convinced of our city’s smarts because we keep meeting people like Dan Wright, a tech entrepreneur who’s turning laptops into goats in Africa.
That’s the premise of his GiveTech project, an offshoot of his company Regional IT. It’s an online technology shop whose profits go to – for now – families in Kenya.
‘‘I like the challenge of making money, but I like it even better when I can give it away,’’ Wright tells Topics.
‘‘In Australia we tend not to look past our first world problems; my coffee’s too cold, my hedge needs trimming. That’s nothing compared to what they’re dealing with over there.’’
Launched six months ago, the not-for-profit has one full-time employee in Kenya and contractors in several countries. Wright’s first goal is to provide 100,000 Kenyan families with things they need – like goats. Then he wants to expand into Africa’s 20 poorest countries.
‘‘I’d like to raise awareness not just of Ebola,’’ says Wright, ‘‘but also get people to think about what’s happening and how they can help.’’

Widowed but not abandoned

Rupanae, although still young, lost her husband from tribal fighting leaving her with three small children to care for. The average age of the nomadic peoples of Sub Saharan Africa is fourty five years old because of fighting, disease, and starvation. These people survive on their animals, only Rupanae, already impoverished, was left with none when her husband was shot.

Rupane and her children have struggled on these last months on handouts and food relief. But we heard of her plight. A big hearted donor gifted 5 goats on GiveTech.com and now Rupane has dignity and the ability to provide for her children again. It has meant the world to her.

Thankyou Afshan, your gift on GiveTech.com we gave to Rupanae and her family. Your love has changed their lives.

GiveTech's first Post

The Vision of GiveTech was conceived in Australia in 2013. Our founding director lived in a tsunami stricken area of Indonesia for a number of years helping rebuild the infrastructure and morale of their people. During those years he tasted the wretchedness of poverty and experienced the awful consequences of a natural disaster. Although he was just one man amongst a sea of need, he saw that he as just one man could make a difference. And he did just that. The seeming 'little' he did, in fact, helped a community, and changed people's lives.
GiveTech is about giving you that opportunity. You can make a difference in a struggling person's life by a small act of buying your next computer equipment through GiveTech. Such a small decision by you, and yet it will make such a mighty impact in the world.

Helping others in poverty is not just about responsibility. Don't get caught up on that, guilt is not the right motivation. It is about the privilege and opportunity we have to give. GiveTech gives you that opportunity. You need computers, tablets, and smartphones. GiveTech sells them and then uses the profits to help people in the poorest countries in the world. You will pay similar to other computer sellers buying from GiveTech. Our prices are competitive. But the profit from your purchase will help a person in desperate need.

GiveTech is a non-profit organisation. 100% of GiveTech's profits go to helping people and communities in desperate need in nations that need it most. We prioritise the provision of medical assistance to people in developing nations, to educating those that wouldn't have the opportunity to otherwise, and providing emotional and spiritual support too. We believe in Holistic help - helping the whole person.
